I make a point of it to seriously relax + adventure during the weekends, which includes a few rules. The first is to NOT be at my computer. I usually break that rule once or twice for ten minute email bursts, but that’s it. The second is to walk. That may sound completely weird, but one of my favorite things to do is go for walks outdoors, as long as my toes don’t freeze. It’s a time when I focus on clearing my mind and working those muscles to make room for treats.

So on Sunday, Michael and I decided to first head on over to Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis. We have many lakes in this state, but this one is in my top ten. It’s small enough to walk around and not too busy. Not only that, but we were also blessed with a nice day. Most people will think we’re crazy for calling 35 degrees great weather, but seriously, it 100% is. When you’re used to single digit temps, 35 is borderline tropical. We saw tons of adorable dogs ( that I wanted ), charming houses, and pretty willow trees. All in all, a nice way to end a relaxing weekend and bust out my new camera.

awww, that first picture of you is beautiful! Looks like it was a wonderful walk. And it sounds like a very smart decision not to spend time on your computer on the weekends. I hope you can stick to it! We all need some time to clear our minds and make room for new ideas.

  2. What a great idea to really unplug over the weekend!! Day trips are also nice too! =) I need to take advantage of more lakes and natural beauty by me! Thanks for the inspiration to do so!

I love that little cottage, so cute. I miss getting out and walking so much. Since we moved to Saudi its like I rarely get out and I hate that. Ugh, I am so homesick for TN. We have many great places to walk there. The pictures are so pretty and I hope you all have a nice weekend.

Pretty photos! I love walks too, it’s great for clearing your mind, getting you out of a stuffy room to think clearly again. I always say my boyfriend and I are like an old couple cause we like going for walks, and with spring around the corner I can’t wait for it to happen more often again :)

I don’t get away form the computer much on weekends because it’s when I do a lot of work but I’ve made a new rule that when I am out having fun away form work unless if I really need to I don’t take/look at my cell phone. It makes such a big difference.

Btw I love the bangs, is it new? I have bangs myself but can never figure out how to pull off the long-side-ish-bangs style. Looks cute :)

      Thank you Alicia!
I’ve been going back and forth with the whole bangs thing for a good two months now, ugh. They’re at a great length where I can either wear them straight across or swoop them to the side! My heart really wants bangs, I think I just need to get used to it. :)

sounds like an amazing day. Love the pictures. you two are so cute.

  6. No matter how much I try, I simply cannot go anywhere without my computer – at least a tablet! Sad thing…

Anyway, these photos are A-MA-ZING Breanna! Seriously! The first one is so cute.

  7. […] I have become, and after reading a couple of posts about taking time to ‘unplug’ (here and here) I am going to jump on the bandwagon. Anyway that is completely off the topic I wanted to share […]

Great words. It’s good to be reminded that we CAN do this. It’s not just an ideal—we were meant to rest.

I’m pretty sure you couldn’t get any cuter if you tried. Love this. And you.

That’s such an awesome goal to have!! I really need to work on this—you’re my new role model! :) Looks like a lovely way to spend part of your weekend. I would imagine it makes you that much more productive and content during the work week as well! This seriously needs to move up my to-do list :)

As an Oregonian, you won’t see me sneer when saying you consider 35 degrees great weather. My husband and I love going on walks. We live pretty close to the local library and walk there nearly every day (well, unless it’s pouring).
