Cassie Pyle is the talented designer + stylist behind Veda House. She has a clean and consistent eye for all things creative, which is what prompted me to unveil a little behind the scenes action from within her studio. For this creative diary entry, she was to focus on one single work day and answer a few simple questions about the good, the bad, and the inspiring. This is what happened, truthfully.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING THAT YOU DID THIS MORNING : The first thing I do every morning is lay in bed checking emails on my phone. (Bad habit, I know!) This gives me a glimpse at how busy my morning is going to be and how fast I need to get myself together. I then take the pup out and make coffee for my fiancé and I. We spent about 20 minutes together every morning before he leaves for work. It’s a great way to connect first thing and start the day off right. As soon as he leaves, the obsessive list making starts.

DESCRIBE ONE CHALLENGE THAT YOU FACED : Everyday comes with it’s challenges and today it was dealing with the friday “I’m done for the week” feeling and dealing with clients who haven’t paid up (even with a Net. 30). Fridays are always a mental game.

DESCRIBE ONE ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU ACHIEVED : I’m in the midst of planning my wedding, so figuring out a few details about the invitations was a huge weight off my shoulders. I think I was able to find a paper company I like (and that’s affordable) and I was able to gather some materials for the envelope assembly. Designing things for yourself is always tricky and I’m finding this wedding planning to be even trickier.

DESCRIBE ONE THING YOU LEARNED : I believe I made the realization today that 3 freelance clients at a time is most likely my comfort zone. I’m hovering on 3-5 at the moment and the juggling can be tricky. This is something I’ve learned over time based on how I like to work.

WHAT IS THE LAST THING YOU DID FOR WORK : At the end of the day I usually start zoning out…which usually means finding myself on Pinterest. I like to end my day gathering inspiring things to jump start the following day.

AND JUST FOR FUN, DID YOU EAT ANYTHING TASTY : Yes! This particular Friday night was date night for the fiancé and I. We decided to stay in and make homemade cheese ravioli. I got a pasta press for Christmas last year and we’ve brought it out here and there when we’re feeling adventurous. Soooo yummy!

Cassie is great. :) And yes, I think most people get Friday blues, ha. I personally don’t even work well on those days and typically just take a half day off. It’s not even worth it to slack on what you’re doing.

  13. Ooh, I love this! I have this weird fascination with morning routines, so I was so happy to see that question on there!
