I grew up in the same town as Mattie Krall and have had the privilege of watching along as she followed her dreams and started a brand new adventure in California and Oregon. She has always had a wandering spirit and itch for travel, which is easy to see through her eyes, in her photographs. This is her passion. For this creative diary entry, she was to focus on one single work day and answer a few simple questions about the good, the bad, and the inspiring. This is what happened, truthfully.
Note that some photographs contain tastefully done, but mature content.
WHAT IS THE FIRST THING THAT YOU DID THIS MORNING : This morning I literally launched myself out of bed because I opened my eyes to sunshine ( which has been a rare sight during this Portland January. ) After I slapped on some pants, I walked down the street to get my morning caffeine fix, and to grab brunch with a friend.
DESCRIBE ONE CHALLENGE THAT YOU FACED : “One Bloody Mary or two?”
DESCRIBE ONE ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU ACHIEVED : Today I had my first shoot with Portland Supply Co., a blog/on-line marketplace connecting Portland artists and locals. We had a store visit at Flora, an apothecary boutique downtown. I spent the afternoon sharing stories and photographing the shop. Being new to this city, I’ve been working my butt off to book all of the shoots I can. It’s a humbling and rewarding experience to see my images being appreciated, and my hard work paying off. I am so grateful for the collaborative and supportive nature of the other creative’s that I’ve met here in Portland thus far.
DESCRIBE ONE THING YOU LEARNED : I learned, or I should say relearned, that parking your car in downtown Portland is a hell that I do not want to relive.
WHAT IS THE LAST THING YOU DID FOR WORK : I spent the evening editing images I shot of my boyfriend for my blog. As much as I love photographing as a profession, I always make sure to keep it a personal passion as well.
AND JUST FOR FUN, DID YOU EAT ANYTHING TASTY : YES! I pampered myself with eggs benedict at brunch. Breakfast food is something I can never deny, and I always fight the urge to lick my plate clean. It was a great decision.
