READING a new ( to me ) blog called Style Activist. I love how Erika writes about her healthy lifestyle in a very understanding + approachable and young way. I’ve been taking note of little things I can do here & there to improve my own daily routine. I proimse, this is a great read, guys!! Plus, there are some recipes thrown in that look very tasty.

THINKING ABOUT spring and wondering where it is?? I think we have yet to break the sixty degree mark here in Minneapolis, let alone fifty. Instead we’re fighting thirties and snow threats. I can’t help but be jealous of all those experiencing such beautiful spring weather. Enjoy it ( please ) for all of us still wearing those winter layers! Oh dear midwest, how you can be tricky sometimes.

LOVING this recipe for butternut squash risotto. I’d seriously encourage you to find some time in your meal schedule this week and whip this goodie up. It’s healthy AND tasty all in one. I licked my bowl clean … it was that good.

LOOKING FORWARD TO staying in this apartment while in France. It’s near the well known Le Marais neighborhood – an ideal location. We feel so lucky to have scored such a great deal on it! The living room is what sold me. More on the other places we’re staying later, of course.

Just a fellow Midwesterner here empathizing with your cold and snowy weather! Will we ever have spring??

    • breanna says:

Right!? I just want to go for walks outside, that’s all. If it could just hurry up, ehh? I’m sure in no time it’ll be 90 and humid. Ha. Then we’ll be in it!!

  2. Angela says:

I just took a peek at that lovely apartment and noticed… it looks like it’s in the 20th, not in the Marais, which would be the 3rd or 4th? The price makes it a great deal, but that location makes it a bit outside of central Paris. You might have this all under control, but I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting before you arrived!

    • breanna says:

Hi Angela, you’re right — it’s close to Le Marais, but not quite in it. I think it’s technically the Bastille neighborhood, then. The apartment is right at the southernmost / west area of the circle the “maps” projects it to be.

    • breanna says:

You know what, maybe I’m wrong! I guess it’s in an in-between neighborhood — studying maps right now. :)

    • Angela says:

I am sure you’ll have a great time regardless of where the apartment’s located (as long as it’s near a Metro stop you’re golden). It looks great and what a steal! We stayed in a crappier (and more expensive) apartment in the 2nd last year and I think I might have chosen the nicer place over the location. Hopefully as you check the maps and stuff, it is helps you plan your trip a little easier.

Thanks for the lead to “Style Activist”! I am working hard on maintaining balance between starting a new business and three young children. I am a late bloomer in really understanding the impact of diet and how it sustains me in my day. Reading her blog reinforces some of my own personal changes and inspires me to continue on a path of wellness. As always I appreciate your sharing Bre…

I love some of the columns you have here on your blog. :) So unique and always presented beautifully. You’re such a clever gal!

I would be more than happy to share some of my spring weather with you! It’s in the high 80’s and low 90’s here in Sacramento. However, because of all the trees… it can sometimes feel MUCH much cooler in the shade. Sometimes you have to hunt out spots where the sun is shining… :P

That apartment is absolutely lovely. How awesome is Airbnb!? I swear by them whenever I go on trips. And that price is a steal, too. I hope you enjoy yourself there. :)

It’s always fun to find new blogs. I will check it out now.

    c. risotto is perfect for that weather you’ve got. well, risotto is perfect all the time.
    d. that apartment looks so cute! having an apartment while traveling is really the best you can do. i’m so excited for you!!!! i read “This is Life” by Dan Rhodes a while ago. it’s wonderful and probably the strangest book i’ve ever seen, but so beautiful somehow. and it’s set in paris. I’d totally recommend looking for it before the trip :)

We used airbnb two years ago in Paris, with our two teens. So much better than a hotel! More relaxing, and it was great to feel embedded in a neighborhood, rather than having to walk through a hotel lobby every time we came and went. Plus, you’ll be able to really take advantage of markets and bakeries. Hope your trip is all that you hope for, and happy planning!

Love your blog, by the way; just starting out in graphics, and your work is an inspiration.

  9. Jade Sheldon says:

I have had a butternut squash that my husband bought sitting on top of the fridge for weeks. Now I have the perfect thing to make with it! Thank you! We are going to be going to London and have been toying with the idea of expanding our stay and spending a few days in Paris. I’m definitely going to keep this apartment in mind!

  10. Hanna says:

I can so relate to your feelings about spring, where is it? I must admit we had beautiful weather last week, but now it’s back to cold and grey again. I want to wear my new spring clothes!

Well, since I don’t have to feel bad to stay inside today, I will check out the style activist now, thanks for the tip! Exactly what I am interested in at the moment.

  11. Megan says:

I can’t believe how much snow you guys are getting! I live in La Crosse and we’ve been fighting rain/sleet/small amounts of snow this week. I’m so ready for spring, for real!

  12. Helen says:

Great finds here Breanna! Particularly thankful for your link to the Style Activist, looks like my perfect cup of tea!

By the way, splendid that you are going to Paris! Enjoy it – have you been there before? I lived there for a year in 09/10 to study and travel. If you need some tips on where to go and eat, I compiled a guide a while ago to help friends out, so it may be of use to you (http://helario.us/post/22312408009/paris-the-guide) otherwise if you’re seasoned, ignore it! :)

PS I’m sure you hear it plenty, but I’m a big admirer of your work and blog. I love your colourful, minimalist aesthetic, it’s simple but perfectly detailed – keep up the awesome!
