READING through the Braid Creative blog. Well, re-reading it through would be a more correct statement. I’ve been following along their blog for some time now and always feel so refreshed after spending some time around there.

THINKING ABOUT the future and where I want to take my business. These thoughts have been on my mind a lot lately, so I finally started jotting down notes on paper. There’s something so tangible about seeing everything written down in print. It almost feels as if you are finally committing to an idea and 100% want to make it work.

LOVING the movie Mud. Michael and I went to see it this weekend at one of our local “old school” theaters. I absolutely loved the story, acting, and tone of the film. It was one of those movies that transported me directly to the story. I forgot that I was sitting in an uncomfortable seat and instead felt as if I was cruising on a rickety old boat in Arkansas.

LOOKING FORWARD TO my weekend in Chicago with two of my most favorite people. As a trio, we’re weird. I mean, really weird. Who knows what we’ll talk about and do this time, but I absolutely cannot wait. Plus, I get to thankfully stuff myself with Giordano’s pizza, a favorite. What are your weekend plans??

  1. I’ve been thinking about where I want to take my business a lot lately as well. Your post yesterday inspired me to make a mailer PDF outlining my design process for my clients. I’m also revisiting my current contract and rate list. Fun stuff haha.. but really, it’s pretty exciting.

This weekend I’m going to see the cherry blossoms at High Park (it’s a large park in the west end of Toronto, ON). It supposed to be beautiful. I will probably bring my puppy and my SLR and enjoy a day in the sunshine (finally)!

The ladies of Braid are so stinkin’ inspiring. I took their dream client class several weeks ago, but wow! I’m still needing to sit down and sort all the information and my ideas. It’s hard to do, but so important as well.

  3. dee says:

have fun in Chicago! i l-o-v-e that city! =)

  4. i really want to see Mud…glad to hear you liked it!

    • breanna says:

You should definitely see it! I 100% enjoyed it. I realize it may not be for everyone, but if the trailer intrigues you at all … you’ll dig it.

  5. I’m going to the Braid workshop in OKC this weekend! So. Excited.

    • breanna says:

Oh, awesome!! You’ll have to let me know how it goes. :) I’ve met Kathleen before at a design retreat and she exudes inspiration. I’m sure you’ll have a BLAST.

    • Lisa, I follow your blog and i will be there at the Braid Workshop as well. How exciting!

The best part about this post is realizing that I lived around the corner and across the street from the Roger’s Park Giordano’s and ate that pie all. the. time. when I lived in Chicago. Enjoy a slice for me, darling!! xx

  7. I love the Braid Creative blog too! Always empowering and uplifting to see powerful and proactive creatives out there.

I completely agree with you — it is always a relieving (and exciting) feeling when you finally put down on paper your thoughts — and aspirations. I am always thinking about my brand and which ways to grow + to improve but I always feel better when those thoughts are finally written down. I’ve been doodling a lot lately myself! It’s a great way to discover who you are as well, you know?

Kathleen is the greatest. I have been following her blog + work for awhile now. And her and her sister are the best of pairs! I’m always learning something new at the Braid Creative blog.

It’s already the weekend here (weds-fri) and we have yet to do anything but tomorrow I plan to spend the day at the mall. That is as exciting as this boring country gets. I am going to check that movie out online thanks for the heads up. Have a great trip to Chicago that is where I went to school and all my best friends are there.

  10. Awesome! I live in Arkansas and I am super excited that you lovee the movie Mud! (: I had some friends that worked on it. Represent! Okay, so brag moment over, I am excited to see you are moving forward with business ideas. I can’t wait to see new things one day in your corner of the world.

  11. Tasha says:

I am currently thinking of the revamp of my business. My life has shifted and I know i want to take my business to a new level. I believe in new advancements.

I love a good movie. I havent been in awhile. I will go see the Gatsby next week though. I am really excited about that.

  12. Jess says:

I always write down every plan I ever make on paper, no matter how large or small. It always seems to be a lot less cluttered on the page than in my head, regardless of how messy everything becomes!

I hope you had fun in Chicago!

  13. I too have totally been thinking about the future of my business. One big thing that has especially been on my mind is if I should blog or not. Does blogging help business? Is it possible to be a blogger and a designer without giving up all your free time? I have so many things on my mind… anyway, on a lighter note, I hope you have a fun and relaxing time in Chicago!
