Last weekend I had the priveledge of flying to California and attending the first ever Design Life retreat, put together by the lovely Promise Tangeman and Alyssa Yuhas. I was ecstatic to hear that SO many talented designers and bloggers I admired were going to be at this thing. So of course, I had to go. I have to admit though, I was nervous. There were about 20 ladies going to this thing and I honestly couldn’t believe that we’d all be together in one place for a few days.
My nerves quickly eased as I met some of the nicest people throughout my stay. I can truly say that I’ve made some great new friends that I already miss loads. At least we have the internet, right??
To say I learned a lot during this trip would be a complete understatement. I have been thinking about how I want to challenge myself & grow my business a lot recently, and Design Life was just the push I needed. Promise and Alyssa organized several Q&A’s that blew. my. mind. We all crammed into one room and just talked. Not a lot of people in my real life understand my daily routine / job, so it was nice to be surrounded by people who absolutely do.
My mind has been constantly swimming with new ideas ever since – and I can’t wait to really push and change my business for the better. It’s time to cut what I do in half, analyze, and reformat. It’s going to be a lot of work, but I’m 100% ready to move forward.
Cheers to a great retreat! Some of the pics in this post can be seen here, as well as our hashtag fest of images during the trip. I believe this is going to happen again in the future, so if you’re interested in learning more – make sure you follow @ourdesignlife. You won’t be sorry!
