breanna rose / dining room checklist

We’ve been in our house for almost three weeks now and I still can’t believe it’s ours. Awhile back, I created a visual checklist for our living room, which is very much a work in progress. I figured that since it has proven helpful to lay everything out, I would do the same for our kitchen / dining room. That’s the next thing up on our list of to dos. We actually just started painting our cupboards white this week, which has proven to be intense. I gotta give a LOT of credit to Michael, though. He’s been spending hours sanding and adding new coats of paint as I continue to keep my client projects in check. We’re hoping to have everything painted + reinstalled in the next week and a half. Until then, our kitchen will be a nightmare.

But beyond white cupboards ( go figure ), we’re semi-constructing our own farmhouse table and adding little details here and there to make it our own. I’m digging the pop of plants + wood accents in the above rooms, which is another must have on our list. Speaking of, I have my eye on these Bentwood Pendants for over our table. Swoon. I know this is a whole lot of all talk no action at this point, but I can’t wait to show you the results. It’s going to take some time, but we want to get it right. I’m all ears to any tips you guys may have!!

I’m enjoying following along on your house progress, as my husband and I just moved into our own first house about 3 weeks ago as well :) I love all of your decor ideas and can’t wait to see your reveals of each room! xoxo -hollyanne

Congrats on moving into your new house, too! This is our first as well – so we’re kind of house twins. ;) Hope everything is going well on making it your own, on your end!

Lots of light, plants and a modern wooden table will pick up any kitchen! Love the simple and modern look (but not too modern).

Lovin in the direction. I’ve decided that when I move again I want big windows, white walls and a lot of wood + grey’s. Neutrals are so…sooothing. And this way you can add a few very teeny pops of colour through plants + little trinkets.

So exciting! Can’t wait to see what you do, loving all the inspiration so far. I’ve had my eye on those Bentwood Pendants too…good choice ;)

  6. Love that black and wood Thonet chair. Such a good find! So looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Breanna I am loving these two inspiration images and the direction you are going in. Sounds like you have a plan. What kind of chairs are you pairing with the farm table? lately all I have been pinning are kitchens or interiors with a black wall or some type of black accent. This could be an amazing touch with the wood/leather/ white cabinets. I will have to send you some of my inspiration images. xx Alecia

Funny you mention black, because that’s definitely our POP of extra color. We have black stools, but our chairs will be knockoff eames ( white with wood legs ). Our living room is open to the dining room, where we have a charcoal couch … so the pop really comes in there.

  8. Seriously, that’s the most attractive check-list I’ve ever seen!

The black and gold table and chair combo looks utterly fabulous! And I love your design process – the checklist method certainly seems to be an efficient way to decorate a place. Can’t wait to see how your house finally turns out.

I see you are planning on building your own farmhouse table. Not sure what you are planning on using for legs, but have you considered hairpin legs? Simple, gorgeous, and easy to install yourself. You can get some great deals on gorgeous hairpin legs on etsy. Also, hairpinlegs.com is a resource! Good luck! I can’t wait to see the transformation along the way!
