breanna rose / favorite web fonts

I thought it was about time to share another batch of my favorite web fonts, so here we are! You can see some of the past round ups here, here, & here if fonts are your thing. One of my favorites out of this bunch definitely has to be Sanchez. It’s a slab serif that looks good both small AND large, which is always a plus. Very versatile. Another good one has always been Raleway. Now, this one is a bit more tricky simply because it looks best large and you definitely can’t use it as body copy. It shines best as a header or decorative typeface. You can download and play around with the rest of them via the links below. All free :

croissant one / sanchez / raleway / antic didone / roboto condensed / satisfy

  1. I use Raleway for my linkbar and for post headings and I really like it. It’s funny though, as soon as you become aware of a particular font, you start to see it EVERYWHERE (especially if it’s a free one). Scriptina is a serial offender – I can hardly bear to look at it, I see it so much. That’s why these posts are so great – lots of new options! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Monica says:

Love them all, especially croissant one and sanchez!

  3. Angel Y. says:

I have an unhealthy obsession with Sanchez. It’s a shame I don’t use it more often. Thanks for sharing Breanna!

  4. Noor says:

I love raleway but you’re right it does not look good small what so ever. My other two favorites are PT sans and Open Sans. Satisfy is really pretty as well. I love this series so much, great post Bri :)

  5. Noor says:

Beautiful layout you made for this as well I meant to say.

  6. heather says:

Good fonts make such a difference. Thanks for sharing!

  7. alicia says:

Yay, type!! Sanchez is a goodie but my eye is drawn to Raleway. Sexy and slim! Roboto Condensed is great too. I have a thing for condensed type and love using it as headlines. Always feel like I struggle to find good condensed faces for web so thanks for the share!

  8. Melanie says:

I discovered Sanchez earlier last week and am absolutely smitten by it! So happy to see it pop up on your favorite fonts list! Croissant One and Roboto Condensed are doing good things for me too–thanks for sharing!

  9. Hanna says:

Thanks for this! I’ve been looking for a great really simple font for quite some time and Raleway might just be the right one. Trying it out now.

  10. Latrina says:

Roboto is definitely a favorite of mine! I tend to use it quite a bit. :) I am also really loving the Raleway font — thanks for sharing! Always enjoy these posts. :)

  11. kristin says:

i love these posts! and i love raleway. i probably use it way too much.

  12. Sam says:

These are great – I particularly love Sanchez, since I’ve been on the lookout for a nice serif font for the past few days now. I love posts like these since finding fonts is such a particular, painstaking task oftentimes.

  13. joy @ OSS says:

I have seen people try to use Raleway as a body font and it was painful to the eyes. God damn man.

  14. Bre… any suggestions on a Font Managing Tool? I’m floundering trying to find one with an interface I like. (Picky, I know).

  15. Kerry Rose says:

    Yesssss love free fonts. Thanks!

  16. Belle says:

Oh my! I love them all! Thanks for sharing. :)

  17. John says:

I absolutely hate Raleway as body text. I’ve now gone to a few web sites in the past few weeks that use a shade of gray, combined with Raleway thin at a 16px. It is a eye major strain to even make out. If I zoom the browser to 125% it helps, but still is a strain. I used Chrome Dev tools to change to Arial and it easily became readable. Do you really want to sacrifice readability to a large audience for a font you think is beautiful? It make look fine at large point sizes like the author indicated, but please do not use Raleway as body text EVER.

  18. […] been awhile since I shared some favorite web fonts ( more here & here ), so I did a little research yesterday to find new ones I had actually never heard of […]
