On our second day in Nice, we took a bus along the coast towards Menton, France. We passed through all of these small hillside towns ( OH, and Monaco – which is super luxurious ) and I fell more in love. The fact that everything around here looks so unlike anything we’re used to at home is what got me most. All you can do is take it all in and enjoy as you go, which we certainly did.

The bulk of our time was spent climbing steps, traversing the coast, and continually eating pastries + baguettes along the way. I actually got scolded for taking the below photo, which was an interesting experience. I didn’t understand what they were saying, but could tell they were upset that i had my camera out. This was in a smaller town, so perhaps they aren’t used to that kind of thing?? Such a bummer, though, because it was one of the cutest P√Ętisseries we visited during our entire trip!!

And that’s a wrap for our trip along the Mediterranean! After three days in Nice, we took a five hour train ride back up to Paris to finish up our trip, which included Versailles. Can’t wait to share more from that day trip with you all, it was so surreal.

Asking for permission to photograph is definitely a thing in France. I don’t know why actually, but yeah, sometimes you run into vendors who have issues with it. Looks like you still got a good shot though! Pastries are too pretty not to photograph :) your photos are reminding me how much I need to return to Nice, too. Haven’t been in years!

For sure! It’s like that in the states, too, I guess. I was just SO taken aback by how quick and upset they were about it, ha. Small town! This was the only time I had an issue. :)

  2. What great photos! It looks like you are having a fantastic time!

All your pictures of France are so pretty! Can I ask what camera you used on the trip?

  5. What beautiful photos! I would love to visit France someday, it looks like such a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing! x

  6. Nice was my first time ever out of the US (for high school summer abroad), and it just made me fall in love with France and the European way of life. I guess it’s no wonder I live over here now! ;) Your photos are beautiful and it is getting me more excited to leave on a road trip through France next week. I hope I manage some shots that are lovely as yours!

Awesome! Whereabouts in Europe do you live then?? Super jealous you’re taking a little road trip throughout France … I bet that will be absolutely beautiful. We took the train from Nice back up to Paris and all I wanted to do was stop in all the little towns along the way, but of course … you can’t just stop a train. ;) Bummer!!

Such beautiful photos! I’ve never been to South France, but wanted to go ever since I read ‘The Perfume’ . I especially love those houses in the hills.
Sounds like you’ve been lucky that you’ve only been told off once for taking photos. It happened to me a lot so far, especially in London. I took a photo in Brick Lane once (where all the Indian restaurants are next to each other) of one of the restaurants, and the guy outside got really pissed off, he said he would call the police if I didn’t delete the photo. Well, we just walked away after my boyfriend kind of ‘threatened him back’, but that was pretty scary. Oh, and another time I took a photo of the outside of a brothel (without realising it was one), and the lady at the entrance looked like she was gonna kill me. And sounded like it as well when she said ‘are you taking the piss?’ with her super British (not so posh) accent. Funny when you think back now, but pretty scary back then ;)

I went to Nice last summer and absolutely loved it! I found the people there much more laid back than in Paris. Looks like you did quite a bit of traveling around the area, which I’m quite jealous about. So much to see, so little time.

    J’adore tes photos :)

Great photos! That first one of the buildings is just amazing and the colors are captured so beautifully! I have never been outside of the U.S. but am dying to go to France!
