Winter has been keeping us inside a LOT this year. But because this is a “grateful” post, I’m not going to complain about it. ;) Instead, I’m going to talk about a few great ( and random ) things that have been going on as of late. Because we’ve been stuck indoors, I’ve had a lot of time to work on our Save The Dates. Just like with any personal project, I MAJORLY struggled to get started … going in a billion different directions. But then, life was kind and helped me settle on a concept Michael and I both approved of. Phew. I know the photos I’m sharing here are more of a “sneak peek” vibe, but I plan on sharing a more comprehensive look at everything in a bit, once finalized. These puppies will go to print ( I’m still color matching ) sometime in the next few weeks. Feels good to check that off of our never ending list of to dos!

The other thing I’ve been super excited about lately ( and the reason a seemingly random spoon + fork are pictured ) is our new forty-five piece gold utensils set. My mom purchased this for my birthday and I’m not sure I’ve ever been SO excited about cutlery. I’ve had my eye on something like these for a few years, and just couldn’t bring myself to make the investment. I’m not sure why, but frugality is a curse I’m learning to deal with. Luckily, my mom came to the rescue and made all our meals that much prettier. It’s funny how the most mundane details can make our day that much more exciting.

And lastly, I’m grateful that I’m once again feeling inspired to drag out my camera + experiment. I still have a lot to learn in terms of shooting + exploring during post processing, but I’m excited to share more of that around here. Please excuse the imperfections in these shots. I set out to take a really organized “overhead” set of photos, but enjoyed sharing my whole setup more. Sometimes behind the scenes is more fun, right??

I love your colour choice for your save -the-dates. In the spirit of gratefulness I’m not going to complain about staying in bed with a cold but rather enjoy a day off and feel no guilt about catching up on my favourite blogs:)

  2. Alex says:

where are the utensils from?! so pretty!

  3. I love that you chose to do something a little bit modern. Weddings are always the occasion where people tend to go toward something calligraphed with a lot of romantic curves and a very pale colour palette. I love your choice of the yellow, it’s pretty bold and defines you perfectly I think :)
Congratulations agaaaainm, this is going to be a pretty incredible wedding !

Very true! Neither Michael nor I are very whimsical ( calligraphy style ), so it was a no brainer. Kinda fun to work with such bold graphics though. Hoping it all goes over well. :) Thank you again!

The “imperfections” are definitely what make your photos beautiful. I almost always prefer the behind the scenes!

Gratitude is such a cozy feeling, isn’t it? Those gorgeous Save the Dates are definitely worth the sentiment :)

hey breanna, your save the dates look really good and i can’t help but take note of the mustard gold color tones in your cards. i love how this same color is consistent throughout your site design and can even be found in your home: the flowers on your desk, your tortoise shell glasses, and now your spoons and forks, too. that’s hella cool. and as for your photos… the composition and colors drew me right in, so much so that i had to pacify my mute and comment.

Aww – thank you so much Katrina. That means a lot coming from you. Hope you are well and thanks for stopping by. :) xx.

Gorgeous- everything! I’m sure you’re going to have a visually stunning wedding, I hope you’ll be sharing lots of photos here.

It’s always great to see what others are doing to keep busy and stave off cabin fever during these crazy winter months! As for your photos, it’s all about feeling, isn’t it? When we make the image in our mind’s eye come to life, that is an extra special photo. But when we get to the subject, and our minds change, I think that’s just as beautiful :)

  9. Rebecca says:

Imperfections? These shots are as beautiful as the cutlery ;) I “borrowed” my parents set. It was a wedding present they thought was too night to ever use, so I asked if I could have them and yes I feel fancy when I eat with gold!

  10. Jade says:

That cutlery is just perfection! I have some really old stuff from when we first moved to London and could only afford to buy from Ikea so I’ll certainly be putting something similar on the short list when I upgrade this year – they are just so elegant!

  11. JACLYN says:

I’m really loving these more personal posts, girl! Your save the dates look awesome. I can only imagine the perfectionism problems that I’m going to go through whenever I have to do my own… designer lyfe! ha!

  12. Oh my gosh, as soon as I turned 23, I was shocked at how much little things made me happy. Like a non rusty spoon. Or a trashcan that isn’t made of plastic. Ha! This set is GORGEOUS.

its the little things that make us the happiest sometimes :)
