breanna rose / hiring a designer

Big news today, guys : I’m hiring a design intern!! After much though and careful planning, I’m ready to find the perfect addition and make this little adventure of mine a team journey. All of the details are provided above and more will come to next round candidates. If you or anyone you know would be interested in applying, please follow the intructions provided below and let me know if you have any questions in the comments!

INSTRUCTIONS To apply, please email with the subject line “design intern” and the following items : your resume, a cover letter, and link to your online portfolio. Your name and a place to contact you should be easy for me to find. Applications are due on April 17th and qualifying candidates will be notified via email within the following week, so please do not email me if you have not heard from me.

* UPDATE I realize that the term “intern” means a lot of different things to everyone. So, I wanted to explain myself a little better. I have every intention of making this a “real life” position versus small tasks often associated with an “intern.” The candidate selected will be a lead designer on projects and work under me, the Art Director. Overall, it’s a collaborative opportunity that I cannot wait to find a match for!

I’m absolutely excited to hear from all those who are interested and can’t wait to peruse through your work. Again, let me know if you have any questions in the comments. Thanks!

  1. Kory says:

O.M.G! I would love to work with you. Are you looking to have someone local to your area or remote?

  2. Amber says:

This is amazing! I think I’m going to apply. What a great opportunity! :)

  3. Alicia says:

That is so exciting, very happy for you! I am definitely curious to hear more! I understand this is an intern position, I am assuming you are looking more so far a junior-beginner designer?

    • breanna says:

Thank you! I am looking for someone younger that hasn’t been in the design world too long. But it’s a position that will hopefully grow into something bigger and the duties will all all be “real world experience.” Real projects, real deadlines, etc.

    • Alicia says:

So excited for you, seriously. I’m an experienced designer and probably not suited for this position, I guess I was excited about the opportunity of working WITH you. I love collaboration and if you ever do have anything come up in the future I would love to hear from you.
Also kinda proud of you (although not really knowing you) for taking this leap. I feel like it’ll be a huge but good learning curve for you, as well as a big responsibility. I love teaching other people so I’m sure it will also be a lot of fun/rewarding for you! Excited to hear more about your experiences as always!

    • breanna says:

Thank you!!! Yes, my intentions are to find a younger designer, but I’m very open at this point. The position will actually involve taking on the entirety of projects and working under me as an art director, so it’s a very real work environment. Not just little tasks. I know the term “intern” may mean different things to different people, but I have all intentions of making it feel like a REAL job, ya know?? :)

    • alicia says:

Haha Yes I feel ya! Unfortunately the word “intern” has a bit of a bad sigma attached to it

  4. Zoe says:

Congrats, Bre! Such a big step but one that (in my opinion, from working with you) you are totally ready/ in the right place for.

  5. Kristen says:

This sounds so great! I’m definitely interested in applying. :)

  6. Kristie says:

I am SO interested! Will be applying later today.

  7. Nawal says:

This is such a great news! It would be a great opportunity / platform for all designer’s out there.

  8. Kercia says:

Breanna, this is such a wonderful opportunity that has got me all giddy and excited for graduation in May! I was wondering if you would consider experience as working as a student designer for a department on campus? Thanks so much!

    • breanna says:

      Hey Kercia!
Yup, I would consider working as a student designer experience. Let me know if you have any other questions!

  9. Angel Y. says:

What exciting news! It’s great to be able to give back to aspiring designers and allow them to work for you. I was lucky to have my new summer intern approach me for the opportunity without me asking. I had an intern last summer and it was great. I hope you find the one you’re looking for!

    • breanna says:

Aww, thanks Angel for the lovely words and confidence! I’m hoping to find a great match. :)

  10. Noor says:

I wish you the best of luck your really growing and I hope you find the best person to help you continue to do so. I would love to hear more about your process I have been wanting to hire someone to work desk type stuff bc I have found myself so busy with designs but I never know how to handle it bc its a pretty trusting job I mean you have to get just the right person. So please share tips <3

    • breanna says:

      Hey Noor! Thank you. :)
And yes, I’ve also thought about hiring a project coordinator or office assistant. It’s been on my mind a lot lately and hopefully one day I’m able to do that. But at this point, I’m completely scared of the “letting go” part since I do everything right now. Of course I’ll share tips as I go along this little journey. Hopefully I have more soon! xx.

  11. Noor says:

I am the same way! I feel like no one will care as much as you do (the owner) and not handle stuff or clients the way you would want them to. Its just a fear that I think about but sometimes I waste so much time of these small things when I could just be working. I am sure you know exactly what I mean. I have trust issues I guess bc I like things done a certain way lol.

  12. Sasha-Shae says:

AHHHH!! This is amazing!! I am definitely interested. I need to do an internship and I absolutely love your works :) Thanks for even having this opportunity Breanna.

  13. JP says:

Ohhh, Breanna. I would LOVE to be your intern, but I’m focusing so heavily on just being a student right now.

  14. Star says:

I just hired my own, too!
I hope yours is as helpful as mine has been!!
