inspiration vs imitation / breanna rose

The lovely Ana of Blog Milk asked me to guest blog about a tough subject : blatant copying and the act of taking inspiration too far. It’s a serious topic that happens to many creatives out there, but can be confusing as to how to react to it all. SO, I took some time to get my thoughts down and talk about this “grey area” subject that tons of people worry + struggle with at some point in their career. To hear what I have to say, click right here and let’s get a discussion going. Thanks, Ana, for having me. I really enjoyed writing this one!

  1. Clearly Lady Gaga does not understand that fine line. She has imitated Madonna…you can see the inspiration but it is pure imitation!

I was just over there and commented. It was a great post, I really feel like you explained it well, alerting people to see the situation objectively and how handling it different ways may result in different results, keeping both yourself and the other person in mind.

Aww – thank you Alicia for your sweet words. I knew it was a tough / objective post to write, but wanted to. So thank you!!

This is such an important topic so thank you for discussing it. I was also wondering what font you used for the graphic above? I love it!

An interesting post on an often problematic post potentially raising legal arguments (gawd, geek talk, sorry=P) – all I’m trying to say is that I enjoyed reading your guest post =)
