Little Insights | Breanna Rose

ONE This weekend, Michael and I both had trouble sleeping in. Each day, we woke up before 7am, which I deemed completely crazy. BUT, there is something to be said for getting so much done on a weekend morning and feeling like you have the rest of the day left in front of you!

TWO Lots of planning for our wedding has been going on and for the most part – I’ve quickly learned that it’s not my thing. I’ve been putting most of it off, but thankfully, my maid of honor is an aspiring wedding planner and loves organizing, so it’s been nice to bounce ideas around with her! We finally are close to fully deciding on the table top decorations, so I started thrifting glassware to match. Gotta love when you can get these beauties for under $3 a pop.

THREE At some point last week, I knocked over the vase of flowers Michael had given me awhile back. It was a crazy 5 seconds where I scrambled to pick up pieces on the floor so that Walter couldn’t get at them ( he loves leaves ). The good news is that when I finally had everything back on my desk, the mess was quite pretty. Funny how a quick struggle in the middle of a boring day could offer a new outlook.

FOUR This is a sneak peak of our dining room so far! I ordered some bistro lights to drape in there ( gotta figure out where ) and am planning on finding a skinny bar cart for behind the table. I’m hoping to thrift this, but am definitely open to ideas if you’ve seen some amazing ones floating around the web. Gold please!

FIVE While we’ve been putting the finishing touches on a few rooms in our house, I’ve gotten a bit impatient with my office. For some reason, I decided that it would be one of the last things we tackle, despite the many hours I spend in there. Oops. I have a bunch of fun paper cut outs / items stored away that I’m itching to put up! Because right now, my office is beige on beige on beige with NOTHING on the walls. Bummer.

SIX On a run to Home Depot last week, I got stuck checking out all of their plants … and ended up bringing home this little ( big ) guy. Day by day, we’ve been adding new touches to our living room and it’s quickly become my favorite place to be. There’s a ton of greenery + neutral colors and overall, it’s been an interesting ride in discovering our style. More to come!!

I love your little insights ! I invite you to stop on my new blog…Now in spanish and english! welcome! have a nice week Breanna! :)

  2. Lauren says:

I looked for months for a bar cart type piece that I could TLC & maybe even get for a bargain.. but I could never find one. Maybe you have better options where you live, but target does have a sleek little gold beauty if you’re budgeted to spend $100 for it.

    • breanna says:

I’ve definitely seen that one and it’s on my list, although I’m CROSSING my fingers that I can thrift / find something unique. :)

  3. Mo says:

Based on the picture of those fun little office paper cut-outs, I’m really excited to see your office when it’s all completed. It looks like a lot of fun, beautiful little tidbits!

    • breanna says:

Haha, I’m excited to see how it will end up, too. ;) It’ll probably end up being a summer project so I’ll just have to get over it for now. :(

  4. Kat says:

I enjoy the little peaks into your life. I’m always a little bit happy when I wake up early on the weekends. It’s bittersweet. Especially when you have kiddos and you wake up before them and have that quiet time…. as opposed to a 5 year old pretending your bed is a trampoline haha.

Cant wait to see more from your wedding planning!

    • breanna says:

Thank you! Yes, definitely bittersweet. Part of me didn’t want to get out of bed – but I knew that I would just lay there and never fall back asleep. It’s nice getting things done – and I can imagine even more exciting when you get up before kiddos. ;)

  5. Tori says:

Bre, I love these little insights into your week – such great snapshots! Love the bits and bobs you’ve been storing – fingers crossed you’ll get all the rooms sorted asap and can begin to start enjoying them!!

    • breanna says:

Thank you Tori! I’m glad that at least our kitchen / dining / living room combo is almost finished since we spend a lot of time in there. But I totally can’t wait until everything feels complete!

  6. It’s crazy how a few plants can pretty much change everything. When I arrived in my Amsterdam apartment it’s one of the first thing I did, cactus hunt ! Cannot really explain it but it’s making the atmosphere more “homy” right away !

  7. Maira says:

LOVE, love, love your dining room, that table is amazing, I’d love to see more details!

    • breanna says:

Thanks so much! Funny thing is : we paid absolutely nothing for that table. A friend of Michael’s family was selling their house and was using that thing as HIS DESK. CRAZY!!

  8. Emma says:

As I’m in the midst of planning my own wedding, I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s discovered it’s not for everyone. Strange when creative people have a hard time getting organized and pulling everything together for such a creative event! But it’s good you have someone close to you who enjoys the process. Helps so much. Enjoy the rest of your planning!

  9. giulia says:

i love these little insights posts:) you have a beautiful photography and design style. it blows me away every single time!!!

  10. Kory says:

Bre, I can totally relate with the sleeping in thing! I’ve been pretty bad about waking up before 8AM. Instead of getting started on the day, I’ve tried to enjoy the quiet time of just laying in bed!

  11. katie says:

your dining room looks LOVELY so far! can’t wait to see more photos of your home. and hopefully you’ll be able to dedicate time towards your office soon. your workspace is so important!!

    • breanna says:

Thank you! And yes, I agree … gotta give my office some love soon because it’s absolutely NOT inspiring. Hopefully that’ll happen over the next few months!

  12. Maja says:

That dining room table is beautiful, and even better that it was free ;)
I definitely took some notes about putting more plants in our living room, although it’s like inviting them in to die a slow death. I have the blackest thumb, even though I really try my best to keep them alive. And I totally get your aversion to wedding planning, that is actually one of the (silly) reasons I don’t want to get married…haha.

    • breanna says:

Ha! I don’t have a green thumb either. Luckily, my fiancĂ© is great at taking care of plants and knowing when to water them. Phew. I have faith you won’t kill yours!!

  13. Sarah Bryn says:

Love these photos! I am looking for chairs just like the ones in your dining room…where did you get them?
