Little Insights | Breanna Rose

ONE During another rough winter day ( snow + cold ), I took this photo from the warm comforts of our home. We’ve been making progress + adding lots of new little treasures, so everything is starting to feel like it’s coming together. At least a little bit.

TWO I have literally been eyeing these nightstands ( and matching dresser – not pictured ) from West Elm for over a year now. I have always like their modern take on a classic Mid-Century look … and finally decided to take the plunge. But as luck has it, they have this entire line ON SALE ( for a really great deal ) this week. I bought it last week, woops.

THREE Back in college, Michael and I used to make coconut curry + naan bread ALL the time with our friends. It was our go to hangout meal on a Saturday night. Crazy party people, right!? Ha. So last week on a ( very ) cold weeknight, we decided to bring it back into the mix again. Here is the recipe for our favorite naan bread. Extra sugar. And definitely use garlic. I’ll take 10 pieces.

FOUR I’ve been living in this new Zara Top for a few weeks now. You can dress it up or dress it down easily … but either way, I honestly don’t think I’ve owned a shirt that’s made me feel THIS confident. Seriously. It has a great fit, while being 100% comfortable no matter what. Pretty sure I’m about to add a few more colors into my shopping cart!

FIVE To expand on the above, my wardrobe makeover has slowly been making progress! I received Cuyana’s Leather Saddle Bag in the mail last week and am so excited to start using it. I’ve always been a fan of over the shoulder purse, and this one is absolutely beautiful. My kind of leather.

SIX My latest obsession has been juicing for lunch. As much as I want to challenge myself and do three continuos days of pure juicing, I’m not sure that I would enjoy it – no matter the benefits. So instead, I’ve been enjoying it once a day. I’ve been experimenting a lot, but my favorite mix so far is : banana, mango, pineapple, a few peach slices, honey, spinach, protein powder, and coconut milk.

  1. That Zara shirt! Need! Love the simplicity of it. Those nightstands too. Oh my. My bank account is in trouble! Your home progress is absolutely stunning!! Two thumbs up dear! xx

    • breanna says:

Both are WONDERFUL items. I always get stressed with big purchases, but felt so calm after seeing them in our room. Phew!!

  2. kerry says:

That Zara shirt is perfect. I may go purchase this…hehe. Also, I’m interested in your juicing experiment–I’ve always been afraid (well, my taste buds have) to try it. So naturally I just keep putting it off. But your recipe sounds like it could be yummy and not taste like grass! :)

    • breanna says:

The Zara shirt is WONDERFUL – not lying about it. ;) And for only $39.50 ( and free returns if it doesn’t work ) – it’s not a bad risk! I’m pretty scared of juicing, too. I don’t get too crazy and don’t add a lot of vegetables yet, because I don’t always know what’s going to happen to the taste. Trying slowly is working so far, ha.

  3. Samantha says:

Breanna! Get a price adjustment on those nightstands. West Elm has a 14 day price adjustment policy. Just give them a call.

    • breanna says:

I had their tab pulled up to call later thinking I could try – because I didn’t know that was a policy. This is the best news of ever right now. ;)

    • Miranda says:

I’m so glad you posted! I was just about to scream at the top of my lungs that you can get some money back! I looooove West Elm. But I looooooooooove their price adjustment policy more <3

    • Stafford says:

Haha! I was about to write a comment about the 14-day policy as well. Trust me, I worked there for a year and gave our a price adjustment almost everyday with the amount of sales they have… Glad you finally got them! They’re great! Especially in your space!

  4. Niken says:

you are always inspirational for me!

  5. Frances says:

I adore that nightstand; I’ve been considering getting a new nightstand as my goldfish’s cube tank takes up most of it, and I love the idea of having more than one drawer in a nightstand. That coconut curry and naan bread sounds really tasty.

    • breanna says:

It is SO good! We just use pre-made coconut curry sauce, but mix in a little coconut milk. Then, you simply chop up veggies of choice and serve on rice. AMAZINGLY GOOD. :)

  6. Cassie says:

Hi Bre! I’ve been meaning to comment about your new nightstands for over a week now. Absolutely love them and think they make a perfect edition to your room. I think you mentioned making a bed frame to match them, but I really love the contrast you’ve got going on now!

    • breanna says:

Thanks, Cass! I’m definitely considering it … but the current bed frame we have is a cheap-y from ikea, so I’m itching to do something else. I’m actually thinking about NOT having a headboard, but just a nice frame … and that alone may keep it less matchy matchy without being able to see much wood. You did a white platform bed, right?? What materials did you use?

  7. Mailinh says:

Love the little glimpses you’ve been giving us. You should see if West Elm will give you a price adjustment since you just bought it.

    • breanna says:

Thank you. :) And yup, West Elm gave me a price adjustment. SCORE. Saved over $300 on that. ;)

  8. kylie says:

THANK YOU for sharing your naan recipe! I’ve been experimenting with naan recipes to try and find one that I really love, so I’m excited to try this one out. Also, that paint color in the nightstand pictures is just the best color I’ve ever seen on walls. Love these little insights posts. Have a happy Monday!

    • breanna says:

I hope you like the naan! We love it. :)
Just make sure you add an extra pinch ( or two ) of sugar. And even though they say garlic is optional, I definitely add it. Not AS MUCH as they say, but I do put it in there. Plus, you get to brush it all with butter which takes the cake. I wish I could eat them everyday, ha.

  9. Juice instead of a meal ?? That sounds sooo … nice and totally unreachable for me. I’m a real food lover, and what I like is to chew, so you actually feel the taste. I’m the kind of person that thinks a soup is boring and wants to add to it cheese and bread ya know … :)
But, it definitely must feel refreshing !
About the nightstands, I thing Elise from Pennyweight got the same. Funny to see how you both curated it so nicely and differently.

    • breanna says:

Oh! I totalllly get it. I’m a foodie, too, so the idea of juicing was pretty laughable to me. BUT, I know that I’m not the healthiest eater, so this is my way of infusing a “better” routine into my day. I only juice my lunch Monday – Thursday, which are my busiest work days anyway … so it’s nice to just power through a huge smoothie instead of making something!

I say that Elise got the nightstands. And it is totally cool to see them styled in different ways. :)

  10. So many great favorites here! I am also slowly getting my house together piece by piece. I love getting new things. Just makes the house feel more homey. Naan is one of my most favorite things on this earth. I need to get my husband to start making it more. Thanks for recipe!

  11. Love love love those night stands – absolutely beautiful!

  12. LOVE the night stands!! so unique! and thank you for posing that naan bread recipe – i’ve recently gotten hooked but would love to make some myself! OH and that zara shirt looks comfy and flattering as ever, i might have to invest!

    • breanna says:

I am SO HOOKED on naan bread, ha. And yes, you should definitely make that little Zara investment. ;)

  13. Brittanny says:

It’s great when you find a piece of clothing you want to live in. I found that recently in a French Connection oversized cardigan. Wearing it right now.

  14. alice-jane says:

That Zara shirt looks so comfy! I love your nightstand and how classic is looks. What a bummer that you didn’t catch it on sale. I’m pretty sure you can get a price adjustment if you wanted to, though, since you bought it pretty recently.

I love your Cuyana bag! I’ve been eyeing them for a while and I love their classic shapes. I think I’m going to have to reevaluate my wardrobe, too and start investing in key pieces instead of buying a lot of at-the-moment pieces.

  15. Vicky says:

I love this section! lovely pics, and will make the recipe! :) kisses Breanna!

  16. christina says:

Hello! Your new place looks beautiful. Where did you get your gold hairpin leg plant stand? I’ve been searching high and low for an affordable one with no luck.

  17. Meg says:

We just had naan and curry last night… SO good. I’ll have to try your recipe next time! Gorgeous stuff as always! xx

  18. Ashlee says:

Love the look of that Zara top and I love juicing. I’m in the same boat as you as far as wanting to try maybe 3 straight days, but not sure if I’d enjoy the process. I usually use juice as my breakfast. It’s great for getting the day going!

  19. Ilenia says:

I love how you’re place it’s coming along! the nightstands are to die for!

  20. MJ says:

I absolutely love your little insight posts. You’ve inspired me to revamp my little closet this spring!

  21. leanne says:
