process-2

A good friend of mine from high school, Rob Wormley, approached me just before the end of last year in hopes to collaborate on an new adventure of his : Thought Circus. It’s a collaborative blog that covers all sorts of topics from life to culture + business and much more in between. We had a little catch up + brand sesh and kicked out some fun options! You can see the moodboard right here. Being that the word “circus” is involved, we wanted to incorporate that concept somehow without being too over the top, which you can see in some of the above options! In the end, Rob chose row one / number two + row three / number one as his direction. But ultimately, the non slanted version won for it’s ease of use!

And although the end result is nice and simple, the slight vintage texture and triangular pattern help capture that fun and playful feel of going to the circus. Cheers to an exciting new website, Rob! And hope to get a totally custom website someday to top it off.

  1. What an awesome logo and I just checked out his blog! Pretty cool!! I think I’m going to bookmark it so I can check in now and again! There are some interesting articles that are right up my alley!! =)

Can’t wait to check out the site itself. Looks great. I personally prefer row 2!

    Hi Breanna!
These look great! I just have a small question. For logos, do you use any font you find on the internet? Or do you make your own? Are there some rules/guidelines that apply to this? Thanks!

      Hey Kristen!
I have a growing library of my fonts that I’ve had, bought, or found. Essentially, there are no rules to what you can use – as long as you’re purchasing what needs to be purchased, etc. I typically search for fonts based on what the aesthetic for a particular brand is. Hopefully this helps, maybe do some google searching for basic typography tips??

    • Kristen says:

That helps a lot! Thanks Breanna! And thanks for your prompt response. :)

The one you guys picked was my favourite too! It’s simple but so fun, you totally get the “circus” idea. Love seeing your logo development, thanks for posting these!

  5. The top right is Big Apple Circus ready! Fantastic!!!

  6. Jess says:

what’s the bottom left font? It’s amazing!

  7. KAIT says:

very clever logo options! as a sort of follow up to kristen’s question, i would love if you would someday do a post on your “font finding” process. you always seem to find fonts that perfectly fit the brand, i would love to know more on how you have refined that skill ;)

    • breanna says:

Thank you! And noted — I’ll have to think up a way to share that part of my process. :)
