Gohan Process | by Breanna Rose

Since late last fall, I’ve been working with a local sushi catering business that has a unique perspective on what they’ll be offering. While their main focus is on using local veggies and sustainable fish options, they also want to help put together gatherings that bring people together at the table. It’s all about community! So for their branding, we explored two different paths, which you can see inter-mingled above. The first is a much more modern + bold look, while the second is lighter + fresh. The common thread between everything, though, is simplicity! Score. In the end, the clients chose the bold look for its presence, since the color palette certainly helps bring in that slight soft touch, too. We are currently finalizing the brand right now + will be starting on their website design soon! More to come.

These are fabulous. I love the one with the little crab–so playful and contemporary at the same time. Can’t wait to see the finished brand and site!

    • breanna says:

Thank you! I loved that one too … it was actually one of those “pretty different” options I threw in, knowing that it would get rejected. I like to do that sometimes just to see if anyone goes that far out unique way. ;)

Numéro uno & quatro are my favourites. The fish illustration is so perfect on number 4, and the subtle blue with the fish tail in number one is stunning.

As always, my dear, solid work. Your designs, for me, are a constant inspiration for growth. x

    • breanna says:

Those are some of my favorites, too. ;) And thank you so much – I’m glad you stopped by and continue to grow!

  3. I’d seen some bits and pieces of the project on Dribble and was getting really curious about it. I absolutely adore the one with the fish tail. Such a cool and original detail !
Did you illustrate the fish and crab yourself ? I had no idea this was also on your range of skills !

    • breanna says:

Thank you so much! There are two fish illustrations that I used from scans from a friend … same with the crab! Really great to have. :)

  4. Kelly Brito says:

Fantastic designs. Hard to pick a favorite. But lovely and solid designs, with your clean and modern style all over them. :)
I really loved the idea behind Gohan! We need more businesses with their perspective.

  5. Shauna says:

I LOVE the top left option with the circle. I remember you posting it on dribbble way back and it’s so unexpected + cool for this type of business!

    • breanna says:

Thanks, Shauna!! I love that top left circle with half of the fish, too, although they didn’t pick it. BUT, I may try to push it as a mark and see what they say, because it would still match. ;)

  6. Vanessa says:

I love all of these! I love the details in the leaf element, it reminds me of a fish skeleton. Not sure if that was intended or not ;)

    • breanna says:

Yup! That’s one reason why I liked the leaf option so much, too. ;) Accidentally intentional? Yup, ha.

  7. Yuni says:

Oh I’ve seen this project on your Dribble before. My fave are the first and the crab one. Such a great job, Bre! I adore the simplicity. Can’t wait to see the website!

  8. Sara says:

These are beautiful! Do you mind me asking how long you usually spend on a logo design? I’m having trouble coming up with my own time estimates and I feel like I’m really struggling to meet very quick deadlines through the fear of giving too long of one! I’m really curious as to what kind of timeframe other freelance designers offer their clients!

    • breanna says:

I typically spend about 2 weeks developing initial designs for branding. I don’t work on projects EVERY day, though, keep that in mind. I typically do every other on each project, so it’s not a full 14 days of working … more like 7 spread throughout. :)

  9. danielle diy says:

    Fourth one is my favorite!

  10. Melinda says:

I love the one with the crab. :)

  11. Ashlee says:

The first and the fourth are my favorites! I love these types of posts!

  12. LOVE the one with the crab – bold is beautiful!

  13. […] stylish are these logo concepts for Gohan by Breanna Rose? This sort of simple but hugely effective design takes a deceptively high level of skill to pull […]
