As a designer, I find that I’m always wanting to challenge and make myself better. After all, it’s an important aspect in growing with your business! I had been staring at my personal portfolio for the longest time trying to figure out how I could be 100% happy with it. I love my brand and the color palette that goes along with it … those things all felt right. However, my portfolio just wasn’t cutting it and I couldn’t put my finger on why that was.
After awhile, it dawned on me that my portfolio was conveying an aesthetic that wasn’t as simple or minimal as I would have liked. I immediately opened up Illustrator and began simplifying … it all goes back to my favorite quote that I live and stand by: “Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.” In my opinion, Einstein had it right. There’s something therapeutic in thinking about each and every little detail. Do you need it? Why is it there? I took all of that into account and am left with something that embodies myself and my business in it’s entirety.
