Last August, I chopped a good 10-12 inches of my hair off. It was summer and I let the humidity + heat talk me into a shorter look. I liked it for about a month until I got restless I can. No more top knots, braids, or long curly hair. Nope! I’m totally involved in a vicious cycle when it comes to my hair. I’ll let it grow for a year, get sick of it, chop it off, get mad at myself, and grow it out again. But not this time!

This time, I’ve told everyone around me to stop my future self from cutting my hair so short. I’ll do whatever it takes. Heck, I’m even thinking of making a video of myself telling my future self to STOP. I’m probably sounding crazy, right?? Oops. In the mean time, I’ve decided to take better care of my hair (in hopes that it grows faster). I invested in GOOD shampoo + conditioner, reduced my use of straighteners and curling irons, and am using other helpful products. Cheers to long hair! End rant.

I chopped all my hair off…to my shoulders a few years back, got so mad at myself that I barely even trim it any more. Now I have too much hair and I don’t know what to do with it. Girl problems ;)

I am growing my hair out right now and it can be so frustrating! Why can’t it just grow several inches overnight? :) I came across these helpful tips on growing out your hair over at Refinery29:

    Hope they help! Happy Monday.

I will happily loan you my long, crazy locks if you like! ;) I like it long, cause I literally don’t have to do anything to it, except for moroccan oil + braid it before I sleep…but on the other hand, it’s HEAVY. And my neck isn’t a happy camper sometimes. You win some/lose some!

Ugh. Whenever my hair is long, I feel exactly how you just described, but short hair is worse. SO yessss, I’ll glady take some of yours! Curious for what moroccan oil does though! Sounds interesting … xoxo.

I’ve always had long hair but when i got to the university, after a break up [cliché, i know] i dyed it blue and then cut it really short. I liked the change and not having to do to much to take care of it. After a few years, i started to grow it out but not because i wanted to, just because i neglected going to the hairdresser to get it cut fore more than a year. I cut it again because it was so damaged from not taking care of it and i kinda love the change again, short hair is so sexy. Right now i have it long again and all the long- then short- then long- then short again taught me that no matter how long or short, it’s always better to have it healthy and have it how you really want your hair, whether it be short or long. That lead me to have my long hair not extremely long that it’s heavy and you get the neck not so happy situation, but just long enough to style it in all pretty ways.
    Ok, long comment over :D

It’s so hard! I wore mine short for years and then grew it out only to chop it midway to long. Now it’s long and I’m getting bored with it, which is a dangerous mix. Trying to look at long hair inspiration and braids and such to keep from hacking it off…but I don’t know how much longer I’ll last!

My hair being curly it never looks very long until streghtened. So sometimes I cut it shorter but luckily for me, they grow back faster. I have a friend who has the same issue as you: cut her hair short and can’t wait for it to grow back to its original length. So I will suggest you something that I told her too:

In a disposable bottle (like the $1 plastic travel size bottles) place diced garlic and cover it with olive oil and essential oils (peppermint oil is great but you can use any essential oils) and other type of oils you like. Shake the bottle and let it sit for a few hours. Then pour the oil on your hair and massage it to the roots (basically you are applying a mask). Wrap your hair in a towel and wait for an hour. Don’t be scared that your hair will smell like garlic,.you will be able to wash it off with shampoo + conditioner. Garlic will help your hair to grow out faster, while the oils will strengthen it and accentuate their beauty. Apply this mask as often as you wash your hair and watch your hair grow! ;)

Also, what kind of brand are you using for your shampoo + conditioner? Whatever you do, do not use the ones conatining harmful chemicals. Use organic shampoos or as close to (I use AVEDA products and CHI). You will see the difference in your hair within a week of use ;)

    Good luck!

I’m a pixie haired girl and probably always will be, however, seeing beautiful images like this gives me serious long hair envy. It is also sad that I’m not able to rock the awesome top knot, that is one look I’ve always wanted to rock.

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I did a major chop back in 2009, liked it for the first few months, then immediately missed my long hair. It’s taken me this long to grow it back. And I’m clutching on with dear life! No more cutting!
